Skyfall in Choa Chu Kang (Walk in the Clouds)

Incident on 13 November 2012 Tuesday Morning at Choa Chu Kang

Early that morning, sightings of big foam coming out from the Pang Sua Canal at Choa Chu Kang and I just realise it the following day since I wasn't on my computer otherwise I would have gone there myself hahaha~

Upon seeing this piece of news the first time, my impression is that, where in the world did they get all this soap from o_O? Random thoughts/assumptions came up to my mind, example: like preparation for Sentosa count down gone wrong? Christmas surprise test? But well turns out that it is from an accident.

The foam made its way to the canal due to blazing fire that occurred at Tan Chong warehouse located at Upper Bukit Timah road near Hazel Park Condominium . According to news, the fire broke out on 12 November 2012 Monday Evening, Singapore Civil Defence Force put out the fire and fortunately no one was injured.

This was what the news said,

"Upon the arrival of SCDF resources, the fire was found to have fully engulfed three quarters of the contents inside the single storey warehouse. The warehouse was approximately the size of a football field. The contents of the fire were pallets of wood, stacks of metal and food products. At the height of the fire, SCDF deployed 7 water jets to contain the fire. The fire was brought under control within two hours."

Apparently, it seems that other than the contents listed above, the warehouse also stored about 70 barrels of detergent-based concentrate and each of this barrels holds about 200 litres of detergent each~

Asides from this, to many people, it is definitely amusing as you don't get to see this everyday and it is quite an interesting sight and obviously you are not gonna get this kind of sightings all the time~ however, I personally feel that we should really count it as being very very lucky as WAD IF (touch wood*) it wasn't just as according to wad the news said tat the foam "is non-toxic and is bio-degradable"

As it was quite dangerous because many children and adults were exposed to it as the wind blew the foam up from the canal and into the streets, if it was poisonous substances will then lead to many major diseases perhaps skin diseases etc.

Continuing the story,PUB said its officers are clearing up the remaining foam and it is monitoring the water quality closely. As a precautionary measure, PUB has stopped pumping water from Sungei Pang Sua until the foam is completely cleared. PUB also assured residents that raw water from Singapore's reservoirs is treated at it's waterworks to meet World Health Organisation drinking water quality standards before it is supplied to households.

As shown in the pictures to re-address that it maybe a serious thing, though not really trying to say We singaporeans are "Kia-si" but even asides from diseases etc, it cld also be a hazard to the traffic and cars that are passing by as it might block the vision of their wind-screen or even small cases like passer by heading to walk may not realise it and the foam drenches their clothes, causing people like office workers or even students to have problems goin to skool~

Anyway, thx viewers for reading, signing off~
